Forget constantly sending camera footage to the cloud. Anker has introduced MindBase, a local smart home hub that handles data storage, camera management, and even real-time analysis using onboard AI. This is a step towards a more private and autonomous security system.
The core idea behind MindBase is to give you back control over your data. A built-in 64GB SSD and two hard drive bays (supporting 2.5- and 3.5-inch drives) allow you to create your own Network Attached Storage (NAS). Family photos and videos can now stay at home instead of being transmitted to third-party services.
MindBase integrates tightly with Anker Eufy cameras, including the S4 video doorbell, E10 window camera, fall detection sensor, and PTZ cameras. All video streams converge at a single point, simplifying monitoring.
The most interesting feature is the local AI. It analyzes camera activity in real-time, assessing the potential risk of events without sending video outside the home. If the AI detects a threat, MindBase can activate response scenarios: turn on lights or play a voice warning. This allows your home to react to potential problems even before you intervene.
Anker has not yet disclosed the exact release date or cost of the device. However, the MindBase concept itself already offers a more secure and private way to organize a smart home, where data privacy is paramount.
