Older robot vacuums often got stuck on wires, missed spots under furniture, or left streaks on the floor. The DJI ROMO 2, armed with technologies refined on drones, promises to change this familiar scenario. At the core of its intelligence is millimeter-level obstacle detection. Unlike many of its peers, it can spot cables as thin as 2 mm or even glass surfaces, which often stump other machines. This is made possible by sensors similar to those used in DJI drones – they analyze the surroundings with high precision.

New cleaning depth is achieved through a robotic arm with a 123-degree rotation angle. Combined with LiDAR navigation, this arm allows the ROMO 2 to reach 7.8 cm further under cabinets and sofas and 4.5 cm deeper than conventional models. This means dust and dirt that previously remained untouched will now be cleaned.

For carpets, a mode with 36,000 Pa suction power is provided. A special pressure plate, according to the manufacturer, extracts deeply ingrained dirt in a single pass, which should reduce the number of repeat cleanings.

One of the most labor-intensive tasks for robot vacuum owners is maintaining the self-cleaning station. The DJI ROMO 2 claims its station can operate for up to 365 days without maintenance thanks to a system of four jets that clean the mopping pads.

The noise level during operation is also reduced to 38 dBA, comparable to a quiet whisper, thanks to sound-absorbing materials.

The DJI ROMO 2 promises to turn routine cleaning into a fully automated process that doesn't require constant supervision. The device will be available for sale in September on store.dji.com.
